Under the auspices of the Dean of the College of Arts, Professor Dr. Allawi Sader Jaze’, the Department of History with the Education Unit, in the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Baghdad and the University of Regensburg, held a training workshop on the digitization of history in the hall of the German-Iraqi Institute, College of Arts, on Tuesday, 16.05.2023. Prof. Dr. Layth Shaker Mahmoud, from the Department of History, started his lecture on the importance of digitizing history, scanning the global background in the United States and Europe, establishing a historical perspective. He also addressed the concept of digitization and the importance of digital programs in the production of audio-visual educational programs in Iraq, according to a digital policy, and what are its digital elements in pre-teaching education of history and science. In that same line, Dr .Baha Najm Mahmoud, head of the Arabic language department of Italian in Florence, talked about the importance of such a step in historical research. Finally, Dr. Ashtar Samir presented her lecture entitled The Assyrian and Sümerian tablete at German universities and their importance in historical and archaeological research. The educational workshop aimed at developing digital education in the sciences of history and in academic research among history students, its connection with the rest of the human and applied sciences, and its reflection on the level of university education at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
